NRI Group to build 50000 homes in Karnataka:

December 3, 2009 : Cyan Holding Group of the Netherlands is to construct 50,000 houses on a public-private partnership model in the flood hit North Karnataka region.
 
B J Jairam of Cyan signed an MoU with the state government that directed each house be built at a cost of atleast Rs.100,000, the homes however will cost slightly more.
 
Cyan specialises in constructing prefabricated houses. will contribute 75 percent and the government 25 percent.
 
During the floods, 650,000 homes in 373 villages in 15 districts were affected, of these 219 flood prone villages have had to be moved.
 
CM B S Yeddyurappa said the government intends to build 300,000 houses and corporates have assured them they will build 75,000 homes.  The ground breaking for all the housing projects will be complete in December and the homes ready by next May.
