Tulu Koota Kuwait Organizes `Tulu Parba - 2009' :

Kuwait, Oct 10: The Mega event of Tulu Koota Kuwait - "Tulu Parba 2009", was held on Friday 9th October'2009 at American International School Auditorium (Dr Kamal Al Rayes Auditorium), Maidan Hawally, Kuwait.  

Guest of Honour, Dr. M. Mohan Alva (Chairman Alv's Education Fundation ,Moodabidri) was brought to the auditorium with traditional drum “CHANDE”, ladies carrying coconut on pot and children carrying colored royal umbrellas.

The program started with welcoming audience by compere of the day Anitha Shetty and Sanath Shetty followed by lighting of lamp by Dr. M. Mohan Alva  along with president A.K.Ravindra, vice president Swarna Shetty and Managing Committee members.  The souvenir was released by Dr. M. Mohan Alva.  Vice president Swarna Shetty welcomed the gathering formally.  A contribution for the flood relief fund was requested during the event.

At morning session, audience were entertained by Patriotic Dance (Preeti Devadiga), Cinematic Dance (Maria Santosh Shetty), Comedy Skist (Prakash Shetty, Agnel Saldana  And troiup)), Jesus life time story (United Mangalorean- Agnel Saldanha), Folk Dance (Rovita D'souza, Sanmati D. Menda) and Kannada Songs (Dr. Surendra Nayak & Prakash Shetty).   Delicious typical Mangalorean vegetarian lunch was served on banana leaves which was prepared by Avanti Palace Restaurant.

The afternoon session started with welcoming audience by compere Yadunath Alva & Janet D'Souza.  The entertainment session consists Cinematic Dance(Rovita D'souza), Comedy Skit(Prakash Shetty & Nasser), Fashion Show(Shobha H.Bhandari), Jokes(Vishwanath Shetty) and Kannada Song(Prakash Shetty & Vichita Chinmaya).  The attraction of the day was ‘Pilivesha’ by Children directed by Tharendra P. Shettigar, ‘Asia Darshan’ and ‘Tudar’ organized  & Directed by Suresh Salian.  Asia Darshan was the traditional dances from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Srilanka, Philippines and India performed by the performers of respective countries.  ‘Tudar’ was the symbol of unity in diversity which had couples of all states of India coming together to sing patriotic songs.

After the interval, sponsors were honored with flower bouquet. The members of Tulu Koota Shankar Shetty and Naveen Mascarenhas were felicitated with Palapushpa , Shawl and  Memento by Dr. M. Mohan Alva along with President Satishchandra Shetty and vice president Swarna Shetty for their hard work and contribution towards the association.

Merit scholarship sponsors Vivek Rao, Leelavathi Alva and Sudhakar shetty distributed the merit scholarships to the winners.  Ira Malhotra- wife of H.Excellency  Ajai Malhothra felicitated Talent of the year Yash Alva and Nathasha for their outstanding performance in different fields.  Chief guest H.Excellency Ajai Malhothra (Ambassador of India to Kuwait) felicitated Mohan Alva with Palapushpa, Shawl and Memento.  First Secretary and Cultural secretary of Indonesian Embassy were present on the dais. 

The Management committee of 2008 were felicitated with memento by Dr. Mohan Alva.  President A. K. Ravindra spoke few words addressing the gathering.  H.E Ajai Malhothr was honored with a memento by President A. K. Ravindra. H.E  Ajai Malhothra and Mohan Alva spoke few words appreciating efforts of Tulukoota Kuwait.  Mohan Alva insisted to keep the traditional values of India till the existence of sun and moon.  He also spoke about the ‘Vishwa Tulu Sammelana’ which will be held from 10th to 13th November 2009 in Ujire and appreciated the effort of Elias Sanctis and Sathishchandra Shetty in Middle East.

General secretary Satyanarayan Salian proposed the Vote of thanks.  The program was co-ordinated by Suresh Salian and well comperered by Sanath Shetty, Anitha Shetty, Janet D'souza, Yadunath Alva, Tharendra Shettigar & Shalini Vijay.  Sound, Music and Lighting were provided by Iluminations (Mr. Anand).  Make up was provided by Ajay Ghosh, Back Drop by Sachidananda Suvarna, and Slides by Ramesh Bhandari & Team.  Hall and stage was coordinated by Ramesh Kediyoor Tharendra P. Shettigar & Team.
